Hawaii has a long history of human habitation beginning with the
aboriginal Polynesians who have left a legacy of their past. The
island has many historic sites including the Place of Refuge, Waipio
Valley, Hulihee Palace, and the Lapakahi State Historical Park.
The western and southern lava flows are riddled with ancient petroglyphs.
The Kamuela Museum in Waimea displays many treasures from the Iolani
Palace, ancient Hawaiian artifacts and art objects from around the
world.
Kanaloa is centrally located for day trips to the many of these
historic sites.
